They are complicated…cheeky, imaginative, loving and frustrated!
A lot happens in the toddler years. They have found a sense of independence with their movement but are still so dependent on their parents for so much more.
During this stage toddlers are learning about their place in the family. What their boundaries are for themselves and in the family unit. They are rapidly acquiring language skills and everyday life skills and love practicing them!
As their brain develops so rapidly they often struggle with managing their emotions and feel BIG. They are learning how to cope with emotions and regulate themselves but they need our HELP.
Role play categories are great for this age. They encourage language development and help our toddlers test out their independence in the safe environment of play.
Starting conversations around emotions and how to manage them is also beneficial so beginning toys around these themes can be helpful.
They are also becoming more creative and find pride in their work. Provide them with opportunities to explore construction concepts with toys such as basic building blocks
